Obituary, Cecilia M. Cummings

Cecilia M. Cummings, 95, a longtime resident of Amenia, NY, passed away on Monday, January 23, 2023, at The Thompson House in Rhinebeck, NY. Mrs. Cummings was a Registered Nurse at Sharon Hospital and Sharon Health Care Center for over 50 years. She was greatly admired and respected by her colleagues at both institutions for her professionalism, compassion and sense of humor.

Born on March 3, 1927, in Albany, NY, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Mary (Stronski) Klein. Mrs. Cummings was a graduate of Mount Pleasant High School in Schenectady, NY and later received her nursing degree from Saint Mary’s Hospital School of Nursing in Amsterdam, NY. In 1953, she married Robert Cummings who predeceased her on July 12, 1977. Mrs. Cummings was a parishioner of the Immaculate Conception Church in Amenia, NY.

Mrs. Cummings is survived by a daughter, Susan Cosentino of Syosset, NY, two sons, Richard Cummings (Teresa) of Pine Plains, NY, and Mark Cummings of Copake, NY and daughter-in-law Barbara of Jacksonville Beach, FL. She is also survived by 13 grandchildren: Christopher Holmes, Carrie Clark, Ryan and Erin Cummings, Christina and James Cosentino, Breigh Thomas, Brenden and Garrett Cummings, Kyleigh Robustelli, Todd Motter, and Austin and Jordan Cummings. She is also survived by nine great-grandchildren: Jordan and Kennedy Clark, Tyler Parrotte, Evan Thomas, Troy and Charlotte Cummings, Gavin and Declan Cummings and Greysen Robustelli.

Besides her parents and husband, Mrs. Cummings was predeceased by a daughter, Elizabeth Holmes; a son, Ralph Cummings; a son-in-law, John Cosentino, a brother, Joseph Klein and a sister, Marjorie Claus.

Calling hours will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. on Sunday, January 29, 2023, at the Hufcut Funeral Home, 3159 Route 22, Dover Plains, NY 12522. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Monday, January 30, 2023 at Immaculate Conception Church, 4 Lavelle Rd., Amenia, NY. Burial will follow at Immaculate Conception Cemetery in Amenia.
