Suspects from Illinois arrested after expensive purses stolen from Belk in Riverchase Galleria
Four suspects from Illinois were taken into law enforcement custody, following a investigation which began with an alleged theft of expensive handbags from a store in the Riverchase Galleria.The Hoover Police Department (HPD) reported officers responded to an alarm call at Belk about 2:24 a.m. Jan. 25 and found the building had been broken into.According to the police department, the officers determined a large amount of merchandise had been stolen, including expensive purses and handbags valued to possibly be more than $34,000.The HPD developed details on the suspect vehicle, and after being broadcasted to law enforcement agencies, the Kentucky State Police troopers saw that vehicle on Interstate 65 in the Bowling Green area.The HPD says after a vehicle chase, four suspects were captured, and the items from the Belk store were apparently recovered.Hoover Police also said the suspects do not have any ties to Alabama and it's believed they drove to the Galleria to commit this crime.Arrangements for extradition to Alabama are currently pending, said the HPD.
