A man was arrested after allegedly punching and kicking a woman, then pulling a knife on an officer on Wednesday in Georgetown.
According to the Seattle Police Department (SPD), officers received a 911 call at 10:45 a.m. reporting that a man was assaulting a woman on the 500 block of South Michigan Street in Seattle. An officer driving in the neighborhood was flagged down by community members at the same time for the same incident, SPD added.
Witnesses pointed out the suspect and the officer drove down the block to catch him, SPD said. When the officer got out of his car, the suspect began running away, police said.
During the chase, the suspect stopped, turned around and came face to face with the officer while holding a knife, SPD said. The officer grabbed his gun and the suspect dropped his knife before being arrested, SPD added.
According to witnesses, the assault victim was punched in the face multiple times by the suspect, SPD said. The man kicked the woman once she fell to the ground, police added.
The victim was taken to Harborview Medical Center, SPD said. Her condition is unknown.
The suspect was booked into King County jail for "domestic violence-related assault and felony-level threats to the officer."
