WWE Announces 3rd NIL Class Including Penn State All-American Wrestler Greg Kerkvliet

WWE announced Thursday the newest class of college athletes to sign with its "Next In Line" NIL program.

Among the headliners is Penn State wrestler Greg Kerkvliet, a two-time All-American. The junior advanced to the semifinals of the 285-pound division of the 2022 NCAA Division I Wrestling Championships, losing to two-time national champion, Olympic gold medalist and current WWE talent Gable Steveson.

WWE's third NIL class also includes Arizona State thrower Turner Washington. Washington, a graduate student, is a four-time national champion, winning three times in shot put and once in discus.

Arkansas defensive lineman Landon Jackson, another signee, appeared in all 13 games for the Razorbacks in 2022 and finished with 23 tackles and three sacks.

LSU's Alia Armstrong was the winner in the women's 100-meter hurdles at the 2022 NCAA track and field championships. She also competed in the 2022 World Athletics Championships, finishing fourth in the final.

College athletics have historically been fertile ground for WWE in search of potential stars. Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson and Roman Reigns both played football, moving on to WWE when their pro careers fizzled out. Brock Lesnar wrestled at Minnesota. Bianca Belair ran track and was an All-American at Tennessee.

The advent of the NIL era opened the door for WWE to recruit even earlier. The company first rolled out the "Next In Line" initiative in December, the purpose of which is to "provide a clear pathway from college athletics to WWE through collaborative partnerships with college athletes from diverse athletic backgrounds."
