The 11th annual Four Chaplains ceremony will be held in Roseburg on Saturday, February 4 and all are welcome to attend.
The service honors four Army chaplains who sacrificed themselves to save 133 others on the sinking U.S. Coast Guard Cutter Escanaba.
According to organizers, several people will be inducted into the Four Chaplains Legion of Honor from various walks of life in Douglas County who have all been approved by the special Four Chaplains Chapel Committee in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
Included in the service this year will be a special posthumous induction into the Four Chaplains Legion of Honor for a well-known veteran supporter, news reporter and author William J. (Bill) Duncan. Accepting the award will be Ada Duncan.
The service is co-hosted by Jim Little, CWO4, USN-Retired and Jim Barnett, 1stSgt, USMC-Retired and will be held Saturday, February 4 at Westside Christian Church, 2712 West Harvard Ave., Roseburg.
A 30-minute movie about the Four Chaplains will begin at 11:15 a.m. The ceremony will begin at 11:30 a.m.
