A 32-year-old woman drove a stolen public transit bus at slow speeds and backed over a Las Vegas police officer's motorcycle before she eventually surrendered, according to an arrest report.
Brandy Lackey was taken into custody on Saturday on suspicion of grand larceny of a motor vehicle and assault on a protected person.
According to the arrest report, Lackey stole the RTC bus after the operator parked to take a break at a stop on Durango Drive south of Blue Diamond Road in the southwest valley.
She went south on Durango, then made a couple of U-turns before going onto westbound Blue Diamond.
Police were called to respond and caught up to the bus, which was going at 6 or 7 miles per hour. It made another U-turn to go east on Blue Diamond and police continued to follow.
One officer, a traffic sergeant on a motorcycle, radioed that the bus was continuously hard-braking. The officer tried to approach the passenger side of the bus, but the bus began to back into his bike and he had to jump off before they collided. The report states that the bus dragged the motorcycle about 5 to 10 feet and was totaled.
The sergeant asked for stop sticks, and Nevada State Police, Highway Patrol responded to deploy sticks near Fort Apache Road, according to the report.
The pursuit ended on Blue Diamond east of Fort Apache, but Lackey eventually refused to leave. She eventually got out as an officer began to smash the entrance doors with their baton.
The traffic sergeant reported he was shaken up and didn't know if he had any injuries from jumping off his bike, but he said he was not struck by the bus.
Police wrote that Lackey was wearing a medical bracelet and had a history of police calls. Court records indicate she's being held on $10,000 bail and is scheduled to appear for a preliminary hearing on Feb. 8.
