A woman was arrested for DUII after a Eugene Police officer measured her speed at 110 mph on Beltline Wednesday, the Eugene Police Department said in a news release.
According to police, a member of the Eugene Police Traffic Safety Unit was monitoring Beltline near Northwest Expressway with lidar at 10:45 a.m. on Wednesday, January 25 when he obtained a speed measurement of 110 mph on a Hyundai Santa Fe.
The officer turned on his emergency lights and noted that the Santa Fe took the Prairie Road exit.
He caught up to the Hyundai, which had turned and was going southbound on Prairie Road. The officer briefly activated his siren to clear the intersection and ensure the driver of the Santa Fe was aware of his efforts to stop her.
Another vehicle (otherwise unrelated to this incident) was going to pull into the east driveway access to Lane Forest Products` truck shop, located on Prairie Road, immediately south of the Beltline overpass. The Santa Fe passed this other vehicle, then abruptly cut in front of the other vehicle to get into the same driveway, nearly causing a collision.
The Santa Fe stopped in the driveway and 34-year-old Kayla Deniese Nice of Springfield was arrested without incident after it was determined that Nice was intoxicated.
Nice was arrested for DUII, Violating Designated Speed, and Driving Uninsured.
