A 33-year-old man was indicted by a Livingston Parish grand jury on two counts of first-degree rape of a victim under the age of 13, the district attorney's office said Thursday.

The jury returned the indictment Tuesday for Welner Sura of Livingston. He is set to appear for arraignment on Feb. 2, according to Scott Perrilloux, district attorney for the 21st Judicial District Court.

A warrant was secured for Sura's arrest in October, officials said. He was arrested by deputies with the Livingston Parish Sheriff's Office and taken to the local jail after an anonymous caller reported his location.

If found guilty, Sura could face life in prison at hard labor without the benefit of parole, probation or the suspension of his sentence.
