The Philadelphia Eagles dismantled the New York Giants 38-7 in the NFL Divisional Round last weekend, and they will now host the NFC Championship as the #1 overall seed. They will take on the San Francisco 49ers, who outpaced the Seattle Seahawks 41-23 in the Wild Card Round before holding down the Dallas Cowboys 19-12 in the Divisional Round. Sunday’s matchup features the top two seeds in the NFC, so we should be in for an entertaining affair.

With a trip to Super Bowl LVII on the line, our experts broke down the matchup and made a 49ers vs. Eagles best bet with odds provided by Caesars Sportsbook.

NFC Championship injury report

As is the case every year, any team that makes it this far is surely to be a little banged up. For the 49ers, some good news was actually given when Christian McCaffrey returned to practice on Friday. He’ll be good to go for Sunday’s contest, but his running back mate in Elijah Mitchell may not be. Mitchell enters the game carrying a questionable tag.

The Eagles are surprisingly healthy considering where we’re at in the season. They’ll have all 22 starters suited up and ready to go for Sunday. Even if Mitchell isn’t able to play for San Fran, this is still a matchup for the ages in what’s shaping up to be a tremendous NFC Championship game.

Eagles vs. 49ers prediction: Look for Philadelphia to attack San Francisco in the air

We have reached the final game in both the AFC and NFC, and the Eagles and 49ers were truly the best teams in the NFC this season. They both boast strong offenses, but much of their success this season can be attributed to their elite defensive units. Philadelphia ranks sixth in the NFL in defensive-adjusted value over average (DVOA), while San Francisco finished first in DVOA.

Although both defenses were near the top of the league, both teams’ offenses aren’t too shabby, either. Philadelphia was the second-highest-scoring team, while San Francisco put up the sixth-most points. If you didn’t believe us when we said they were the two best teams in the NFC, you should now.

Although both teams are very strong, they do have weaknesses. The Eagles have struggled to stop the run at times this season, while the 49ers have been exploited by elite passing teams. Cowboys receiver CeeDee Lamb had 117 receiving yards in the Divisional Round against San Fran, while the Las Vegas Raiders torched the Niners’ secondary for 350 yards and three touchdowns in Week 17. The same can be said for Philly, as it allowed 152, 115 and 129 rushing yards in its three losses this year.

Our 49ers vs. Eagles expert pick: A.J. Brown over 70.5 receiving yards as a player prop bet at Caesars

We discussed San Francisco’s struggles against passing attacks throughout the 2022 campaign, and Philadelphgia averaged 241.5 passing yards per game in the regular season (ninth in the NFL). Cowboys QB Dak Prescott looked awful last weekend against the 49ers, but Lamb still recorded 117 receiving yards. Davante Adams went for 153 receiving yards against the Niners, too, even with Jarrett Stidham as his quarterback.

Jalen Hurts looked flawless last weekend against the Giants, but leading WR A.J. Brown finished the game with just three catches for 22 receiving yards. Philly still won, and we think Brown will be motivated to make a major impact after witnessing what Lamb did to San Francisco. Although fellow WR DeVonta Smith will receive a slew of targets, we predict that Brown will record over 70.5 receiving yards.

Brown had just three games this season with fewer than 50 receiving yards. He followed those three lackluster performances by averaging 82 receiving yards in the following game. Although the Giants kept the Eagles’ star wide receiver quiet, we don’t think San Francisco will do the same. Therefore our experts’ 49ers vs. Eagles best bet is for Brown to record over 70.5 receiving yards, which you can fade or follow if you register for a new Caesars account.
