Few NFL teams have as much offensive firepower as the red-hot Cincinnati Bengals, but Kansas City Chiefs linebacker Willie Gay is unimpressed with what he's seen from his team's AFC Championship Game opponents.
"Nothing," Gay said Thursday when asked what about the Bengals' offensive unit impresses him the most, according to PJ Green of FOX4 News Kansas City.
Kansas City boasted the league's top-ranked offense during the regular season, while Cincinnati ranked seventh in total points. But the Bengals are also one of football's hottest teams, having won 10 straight dating back to Week 9.
This is the second straight year the Chiefs and Bengals will face off in the AFC title game, and the matchup is the fourth between the two powerhouses over the last two seasons. Cincinnati, which took down Kansas City at Arrowhead Stadium in last year's playoffs, also edged K.C. in Week 13 at home this season.
"Stop the run, for sure," Gay said when asked what he needs to do to have his best game Sunday. "You know they're gonna try to act like they can big-boy us, but our front six, seven is gonna do its job to try to slow that down."
The Bengals rushed for 172 yards in last week's divisional-round win against the Buffalo Bills, their second-best mark on the ground all season.
The biggest individual matchup in Sunday's tilt is at quarterback, with Joe Burrow looking to improve to 4-0 in his career against Patrick Mahomes. Bengals cornerback Mike Hilton recently referred to the Chiefs' home stadium as "Burrowhead," but Gay isn't worried about what's going on off the field ahead of kickoff.
"I'm just excited to be playing football; that stuff is just what comes with the game," Gay said. "Like (Chiefs head) coach (Andy) Reid said, we don't do any talk. We just go handle business when it's time to go."
