The need for primary care doctors is growing across Southern Nevada, and Village Medical is working to fill this gap.
The medical group held a grand opening for a unique clinic in Henderson that shares walls with Walgreens and offers same-day appointments.
It’s a one-stop shop for patients who need care and medications.
Village Medical is focusing on accessibility and convenience.
Primary care doctors are the first to see patients for all basic medical needs, and they help people of all ages.
Just getting an appointment with one is tough for many Nevadans due to a shortage of primary care doctors in the area.
Dr. Laura Addis with Village Medical blames the issue on a combination of things, including the COVID-19 pandemic, an influx of people moving here from nearby states, and more retirees.

A spokesperson with UNLV’s School of Medicine said one of their main goals is to address the lack of primary care doctors.
The medical school is increasing class sizes this year and continues to offer scholarships and residencies to entice more doctors to stay and treat our community.
Dr. Addis said this care is essential and must be available to patients whenever they need it.
“We can be the point of care quarterback, and we can have all of our patients seen here and take care of all their needs. Or if they need a specialist, a cardiologist, or a dermatologist if I see something suspicious or what have you, we can get them in quickly,” she said.
Appointments are available now at the Village Medical location in Henderson, and there are others across the valley.
