Starbucks workers at a northwest valley location have filed to unionize, the second freestanding location in Las Vegas seeking to organize in recent months.
The store at Tenaya Way and Azure Drive filed with the National Labor Relations Board to join Starbucks Workers United.
The workers sent a letter to the company's interim CEO, Howard Schultz, saying they were organizing because Starbucks failed to create a stable work environment.
"The Tenaya and Azure partners are so excited to lead our store and finally have our voices heard by Starbucks," Kylie Novick, an organizer and two-year partner at the store, said in a news release. "We stand proudly with the many other stores across the nation in demanding real, effective change."
Employees at the store located at Rainbow and Oakey boulevards voted to unionize in December.
Starbucks Workers United said that location was the first store in Nevada to unionize. The Culinary Union also represents Starbucks workers at Harry Reid International Airport and several casino-resorts.
Starbucks workers across the nation have been unionizing in large numbers in recent months, and the national union says federal officials have issued 60 official complaints against the company.
