East Lake Community Center Grand Re-Opening

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) — The Grand Re-Opening of the East Lake Community Center is this Sunday. Chattanooga Mayor Tim Kelly will speak at the event.

The community center has been closed since March of 2021 for renovations.

The newly modified community center will have their re-opening on January 29. The community center is at 3610 Dodds Ave. in Chattanooga.

The community center is 16,000-square-foot and sits on eight acres, the city stated in a press release. They say the space features new amenities and spaces.

“Chattanooga’s community centers strengthen the fabric of our neighborhoods, and I’m thrilled that our East Lake community now has an incredible new space where neighbors can recreate, socialize, and learn together in a safe environment,” said Chattanooga Mayor Tim Kelly. “With new, resident-focused programming and expanded gym and multimedia spaces, the revitalized center will brighten and unite the East Lake neighborhood.”

The city announced that their grand re-opening will be open to the public. It will offer the chance to learn about the center’s history. Additionally, the public can tour the health and wellness and recreational spaces.

The community center was created to supply the needs of the East Lake community.

City Council Vice Chair Raquetta Dotley commented on the new renovation. She said, “Great neighborhoods are made up of great shared spaces, and the new East Lake Community Center will bring kids, families, and neighbors together for years to come.”
