New London County resident Diane Nobleza, age 56, of Uncasville, was arrested on Wednesday, Jan. 25, by Connecticut State Police following an investigation into the death of a 64-year-old man in the town of Montville on Thursday, Oct. 13, 2022.

According to an arrest warrant, Nobleza and the unidentified man had been drinking vodka all day when he grabbed her, which made her mad and she allegedly pushed him against a door jam causing him to fall and hit his head.

After the fall, Nobleza told police she went into her room and watched TV for a couple of hours to use the bathroom and found the man on the floor bleeding heavily from his head. She said she helped stop the bleeding with towels for some two hours and that he refused to go to the hospital.

She then left around 6 a.m. to go to a methadone clinic and when she returned in about an hour she found the man still lying on the floor she went and took a shower, the arrest warrant says.

When she got out of the shower she said he found the man "cold to the touch," and "not breathing." She then called the man's sister-in-law who did not answer the phone and she then called 911.

When investigators visited Nobleza later, she changed her story and said she pushed him into a wall, causing him to fall and hit his head and she then attempted to clean the blood off the wall.

An autopsy found that the man had died from blunt force injuries to the head and torso and the manner of death was a homicide.

Nobelza was charged with:

  • Intentional cruelty to persons
  • Breach of peace
  •  Manslaughter
  • Assault on an elderly victim

She is being held on a $100,000 bond.
