HATTIESBURG, Miss. (WDAM) - William Carey University has a new one-stop location for students who need information about housing, tutoring, campus activities, student assistance and disability services.

It’s all at the Student Success Center. It’s on the third floor of the King Student Center.

A ribbon was cut to officially open that office Thursday morning.

WCU has also opened a new Student Counseling Center, which will provide mental health services.

It’s also located on the third floor of the King Student Center.

“We’ve really pieced together the funding and the support for the Student Success Center, which is something that we were really lacking here at William Carey University in the area of student support and career services.” said Ben Burnett, president of WCU. “Now, we have mental health counselors for our students and our faculty and staff that is free.”

The SSC will also feature academic and career coaching.

“Academic coaching is completely new, we want to work one-on-one with our students to help provide them skill sets so they can use in the classroom that will help them be more successful in the classroom,” said Katrina Pittman director of the Student Success Center.

Grants from Mississippi Power and the Ellsworth Foundation helped support the Student Success Center.
