The first trailer for We Have a Ghost starring Stranger Things' David Harbour and Captain America's Anthony Mackie has been unleashed.

The new Netflix movie follows a family who move into a new home, only to discover that it has a ghost called Ernest (Harbour) haunting it – though he's not your typical terror-inducing poltergeist.

They become viral sensations when they post footage of Ernest online, though when the mystery of the ghost's past is investigated, the family become the target of the CIA.

The first clip suggests a comedy-filled ride, with Harbour showing off his comedy chops in a muted performance.

Plus, there's also Jennifer Coolidge playing an eccentric medium – what's not to love? – who proceeds to jump out of a window when Ernest shows off a rather gory talent.

Happy Death Day's Christopher Landon has written and directed the movie, with Army of the Dead's Tig Notaro also starring.

Speaking previously to Empire Magazine about We Have a Ghost, Landon explained: "[David and I] talked about how underneath all of the sadness and memory loss, there were still the seeds of a man who was really loving, a little mischievous, and wily.

"I liked this idea that Ernest was this beat-down, tax-accountant-looking kind of guy."

He added of the story: "I really wanted to flex certain muscles that I felt like I had, but I hadn't been able to use yet. One of those being this big, sweeping, emotional story that really pays off at the end."

We Have a Ghost has a release date of February 24, streaming on Netflix.
