West Middle School in Lawrence was evacuated Thursday afternoon following the discovery of a written threat.
The threat was left on a technology device on Wednesday.
All students and staff from West Middle School were evacuated to Free State High School. The district says they will be served lunch there and provided support.
"We ask that West families not come to either campus until receiving optional early pick-up instructions," the district tweeted. "Your cooperation will assist us in keeping everyone accounted for and safe."
The Lawrence Police Department, in a tweet, said officers were called to the school to investigate a bomb threat.
Police said the building was searched and cleared. No suspicious items were found.
A student has been questioned and booked into the Juvenile Detention Center, police said.
