UPDATE: Tulsa police have released new information about the woman who was killed at Mingo RV Park.
Officers said an employer was worried when his employee didn't show up to work and he went to the RV park to check on him.
The employer did not locate his employee but instead found a woman in her 40s deceased.
Officers responded and verified the woman died due to strangulation. TPD said a suspect was quickly identified and they learned he had fled to Wagoner County.
Homicide detectives and Wagoner County deputies found the man at a boat ramp on the west side of Fort Gibson lake.
When approached by deputies, the suspect got out of his truck and stabbed himself in the chest.
Deputies began rendering aid and the suspect was flown by helicopter to a Tulsa hospital, where he is being treated.
TPD said they aren't releasing the name of the victim or the suspect until the victim's family has been notified and the suspect is booked into jail.
However, officers are still working on a motive for the crime and ask anyone with information to call Tulsa Crime Stoppers at 918-596-COPS.
This is Tulsa's third homicide in 2023.
