UPDATE 1/26 AT 2:32 P.M. (WFXR) — The Buena Vista City Public Schools has reported that dismissal for all of its schools will begin at 2:50 p.m.

BVCPS says there will be an increased police presence during dismissal at its campuses for safety. School officials say buses are not running and parents/guardians will have to pick up students.

As a result of this situation, the school administration will remain on campus until all students are picked up.

Officials say to contact the school directly for any questions or concerns.



BUENA VISTA, Va. (WFXR) — The Buena Vista City Public Schools has reported all of its schools are on lockdown because of a robbery in the area.

BVCPS says no one is allowed in or out of the building at this time. School officials say they are working with local law enforcement to increase safety in the area and the lockdown will be lifted in the future.
