'We Have A Ghost' Trailer: Christopher Landon's New Family Friendly Horror With David Harbour & Jennifer Coolidge Hits Netflix On February 24

Christopher Landon helped put Blumhouse on the map last decade thanks to his writing and directing credits on the “Paranormal Activity” and “Happy Death Day” films. Now Landon returns for his first film since 2020’s “Freaky,” a horror movie for Netflix that’s a little more family-friendly than his usual efforts.

We Have A Ghost” follows a family that moves into a haunted house and soon discovers that David Harbour‘s ghost occupies their new home. However, instead of being scared, Anthony Mackie‘s patriarch creates a YouTube channel about the spirit to make his family internet-famous.

Here’s an official synopsis, courtesy of Netflix:

Finding a ghost named Ernest haunting their new home turns Kevin’s family into overnight social media sensations. But when Kevin and Ernest investigate the mystery of Ernest’s past, they become a target of the CIA.

Beyond Harbour and Mackie, “We Have A Ghost” also stars “The White Lotus” favorite Jennifer Coolidge, who plays a TV medium, Tig NotaroFaith FordIsabella Russo, and Tom Bower.  Niles FitchSteve CoulterTaylor Shurte, and Ann Mahoney also star.  Phuong KubaciErica AshSarah Voigt, and Jahi Di’Allo Winston round out the main cast.

Along with directing “We Have A Ghost,” Landon adapts Geoff Manaugh‘s short story “Ernest” for the big screen. In an interview with EW, Landon talked about how lucky he is to work with Harbour. “He was my first choice,” Landon said about casting Harbour as Ernest, who’s mute the entire movie. “I knew that the role was incredibly challenging because there’s no dialog, so he just has to do so much with so little. We had a meeting, and he told me he was terrified of doing it, which I thought was great because it shows that he was feeling vulnerable and intrigued and excited.”

Landon felt similarly about working with Coolidge. “She was a blast,” continued Landon. “I’ve never had so much fun working with someone. She comes to set so eager and excited and ready to play and it’s just such a joy. I was so lucky that we got her and even more lucky that, you know, she’s blown up in such a massive way. It’s funny because I’m a gay, so we’ve been loving her for a very long time, but it’s nice to see her getting the recognition and the attention that she deserves.”
