The Athletic Hands UC Football Worst Power Five Coaching-Hire Grade Of 2022-23 Cycle

CINCINNATI — The Athletic's Stewart Mandel is not a big fan of Scott Satterfield getting hired at UC.
Mandel gave the move a C- grade in his rating of every college football hire in the 2022-23 cycle. It was the worst grade among any Power Five hire.
"Louisville coach Scott Satterfield. I don’t get this one at all," Mandel wrote. "Cincinnati wanted a sitting Power 5 coach to lead the program into the Big 12, but this one was an underwhelming 15-18 in ACC play with the Cardinals. Satterfield had a great run at Appalachian State before that, but he also spent his playing career and nearly entire coaching career there. A school in that region would have made more sense."
Satterfield has utilized UC's record-setting assistant money pool and resources to amass a solid staff on paper. Now we have to wait for it all to breed results when games kick-off.
Ironically, Mandel gave out three "A's" or better: Wisconsin's hiring of Luke Fickell (A), Colorado's hiring of Deion Sanders (A+), and Louisiville's replacement for Satterfield, Jeff Brohm (A).
