The Luzerne County Election Board reversed the decision to allow voters to cast a provisional ballot at the polls if their mail-in vote was disqualified.
According to our newsgathering partners at the Times Leader, the board voted 4-1 to reverse the decision at the special meeting on Wednesday.
One member, Danny Schramm, withdrew his support after reading a communication from the American Civil Liberties Union of Pennsylvania urging the board to reconsider its decision.
Board Chairwoman Denise Williams also voted in support of the motion, saying “I have no doubt that the earlier decision would have resulted in us being sued. It was a violation of state and federal law and the state Constitution.”
Board Chairwoman Alyssa Fusaro voted against the motion, saying because of the way the wording was structured, not because she disagreed with the decision.
