A possibly-intoxicated driver crashed his car into Boulder Creek Wednesday night, prompting a rescue of the people stranded inside the vehicle, said Clark County Sheriff's Office police
On January 25, shortly before midnight, Clark County Sheriff’s Deputies and other rescue agencies arrived at the scene of a serious injury car accident call along NE Boulder Creek Rd.
The first call came from the driver of the car, who described himself as "covered in blood" and said at least one other person in the car was unconscious. Four total people were said to be in the vehicle.
Deputies found a gray Mitsubishi Lancer down the embankment and partially in the water of Boulder Creek. Two passengers had gotten free, but the other two were still trapped inside the car.
Police helped rescue the remaining passengers from the car and water.
The investigation showed the driver was traveling west on NE Boulder Creek Rd before leaving the roadway and crashing into Boulder Creek.
Ryan Shepherd, 23, of Vancouver, was identified as the driver. Police say he showed signs of impairment at the scene.
All four people were taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
A police search warrant was given for a sample of Shepherd’s blood, presumably to test for the possibility of DUI.
This case remains active pending further investigation by the Clark County Sheriff’s Office Patrol Division and Traffic Homicide Unit.
