Shazam! Fury of the Gods will finally be released in cinemas in March, and we now have the second trailer to savour as we wait for the DC hero's return.

The sequel brings back Billy Baston and his foster siblings who, following the events of the first movie, are now bestowed with the powers of the gods and all have adult Super Hero alter-egos.

It's all fun and games until the Daughters of Atlas, a vengeful trio of ancient gods, arrive on Earth in search of the magic they believe was stolen from them long ago, which puts Billy and his family into a battle for their lives with the fate of the world at risk.

The sequel brings back the likes of Zachary Levi, Asher Angel, Jack Dylan Grazer, Adam Brody and Meagan Good, while newcomers include the exciting trio of Helen Mirren, Lucy Liu and Rachel Zegler.

We've had to wait a while for another look at the highly-anticipated sequel, following the first trailer being debuted during Comic-Con in July 2022, and the wait for the sequel has seemed a bit endless at times too.

Fury of the Gods was originally set for an April 1, 2022 release, before being pushed back-and-forth between 2022 and 2023 a few times. It now releases following a huge period of upheaval at DC and newly-merged parent company Warner Bros Discovery.

The basically-completed Batgirl was shelved, and James Gunn and Peter Safran have taken over as the franchise's creative leads. Henry Cavill has left his role as Superman despite just returning, while multiple upcoming films have been cancelled (seemingly including a Shazam-adjacent Black Adam sequel).

Addressing all the recent changes, star Zachary Levi defended the new DC bosses. He recently said: "We should always be trying to tap into as many audiences as possible, making as many people as happy as possible.

"That's what we're in entertainment for, and I think that's what Peter and James are really trying to do, and it's not an easy position. They got handed all of these things that were already in a lot of conflict.

"So guys, just f**king give them a break. Take it easy. Take a breath."

Shazam! Fury of the Gods is released in cinemas on March 17.
