Sisselberger and Cole Earn Preseason Honors

BETHLEHEM, Pa. - Fifth-year senior faceoff specialist Mike Sisselberger and junior midfielder Scott Cole were named to the Preseason All-Patriot League team, while Lehigh was picked fifth in the preseason poll, the league announced Wednesday morning. Sisselberger was also named the Preseason Faceoff Specialist of the Year.

Sisselberger is a two-time Patriot League Faceoff Specialist of the Year and was the only student-athlete not from Boston University to earn a major preseason award. The Center Valley native holds not only a Patriot League record for faceoff percentage in a season, but also an NCAA Record. He won 79.5% of his faceoffs in 2021. Sisselberger followed that up with another dominating season in 2022, where he was named an All-American for the second straight year.

Cole was named first team All-Patriot League last season. He led all midfielders last year for Lehigh, starting in all 15 games and finishing second in goals (30) and third in points (40). Cole scored at least one goal in every game last season. He also earned academic All-Patriot League honors .

The Terriers, who are the defending Patriot League Champions, were also picked first in the preseason poll, totalling 15 first-place votes and 127 points all together. The Mountain Hawks tallied 84 points, finishing just behind Army, who had 87 points.

Lehigh was 8-7 last season and 5-3 in league play. The Mountain Hawks reached the Patriot League semifinals last season, falling 13-12 in overtime at Boston University.

The Mountain Hawks will kick off the season in a little more than two weeks when Lehigh hosts Fairfield on Feb. 11 at 1 p.m.
