Buffalo Water Board Chairman OJ McFoy says residents were informed fluoride would be removed from the city's water supply in 2015, and each year in the water quality report, pinned to one of the four quarterly bills.

"I think that's what we've been hearing is that maybe we needed to be a little bit more deliberate about getting that information out. But, you know, we take our public health responsibility serious," says McFoy.

McFoy says the project to switch the fluoridation process took some time.

"This capital project that was placed on hold was placed on hold for very good reason. And we didn't want to interfere with our treatment processes. And we wanted to make sure we allotted sufficient time for the University of Buffalo to study that," says McFoy.

He admits in hindsight, he could have done a better job of getting that information out.

McFoy will be meeting with the Common Council next week.

"It's in regards to the news article. So we'll be there to make sure that we have clarification not only on what was missing out of the news article, but also about the procedures that we have taken and will continue to take to ensure that buffalo water is clean, clear and safe," adds McFoy.

McFoy would only tell WBEN fluoride will return to the city's water supply by the end of the year.
