BEAUMONT, Texas — Wednesday night was full of high school sports following a stormy Tuesday that cause postponements and caused damage across Southeast Texas.
In two of the biggest contests of the night the Beaumont United and Port Arthur Memorial defended their home courts in boys basketball action.
The Timberwolves (24-1, 8-0) battled back from a brief second half deficit to down Atascocita (18-9, 5-3) in 21-6A play, 64-56.
It was the 23rd straight win for the two-time defending 5A State Champions.
Down in Port Arthur, the Memorial Titans (21-8, 7-1) avenged their only 17-5A loss by winning a gritty matchup with Barbers Hill, 43-34.
Port Arthur's win creates a tie atop the standings with Goose Creek Memorial, while Barbers Hill (22-6, 6-2) drops to third.
