The Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Office is investigating after a deputy allegedly shot at an armed robbery suspect in Metairie on Wednesday.
A JPSO spokesperson confirmed around 10 p.m. deputies tried to stop the driver of a car near the intersection of N. Arnoult Street and S. I-10 Service Road.
The driver refused to stop and while speeding away from deputies crashed into another car on Mason Avenue and S. I-10 Service Road.
JPSO said two suspects got out of their car with guns and ran away from the scene.
One of the deputies felt threatened at this point and that's when he fired at one of the suspects, according to officials.
Upon further investigation, JPSO learned the suspect's vehicle was stolen out of New Orleans. Deputies also recovered a stolen gun on scene.
Investigators said the suspect the deputy fired at appeared to be injured. However, they are trying to determine if it was from that gunfire exchange or if he got hurt during the crash.
