JEFFERSON PARISH DEPUTY FIRED AT THEM FOLLOWING AN ATTEMPTED TRAFFIC STOP AND CRASH. THE SHERIFF’S OFFICE SAYS THAT THE DEPUTY FIRED HIS WEAPON AFTER SEEING THE PAIR WAS ARMED. THE BIG EASY REPORTER ELI BRAND HAS MORE ON HOW THAT CHAOS UNFOLDED AND WHAT DEPUTIES ARE DOING NOW TO TRY AND FIND THOSE SUSPECTS. ELI, GOOD MORNING. WELL, GOOD MORNING. IT ALL STARTED HERE IN METAIRIE WITH THAT ATTEMPTED TRAFFIC STOP. THAT’S WHEN DEPUTIES SAY THAT TWO SUSPECTS FLED FROM THEM TRYING TO ESCAPE. THEY SAY EVENTUALLY ENDED WITH A CRASH ON MADISON AVENUE IN THE SOUTH I-10 SERVICE ROAD WHERE THOSE SUSPECTS THEN EXITED THAT VEHICLE WITH GUNS. ACCORDING TO LAW ENFORCEMENT. THAT’S WHEN THAT DEPUTY FIRED AT THEM, PERCEIVING THAT AS A THREAT. THEY SAY THOSE TWO SUSPECTS THEN RAN OFF INTO THE NIGHT WHERE THEY ARE STILL MISSING AND DEPUTIES ARE STILL SEARCHING FOR THEM. AS OF RIGHT NOW, WHERE IT GETS INTERESTING IS THAT THE CAR THAT THOSE TWO SUSPECTS WERE IN WAS REPORTED STOLEN IN NEW ORLEANS. AND THERE WAS ALSO A STOLEN GUN FOUND THERE ON THE SCENE. THEY SAY THAT GUN WAS ALSO STOLEN FROM A DIFFERENT JURISDICTION, ALTHOUGH THEY DO NOT KNOW WHICH ONE YET. WE SPOKE WITH CAPTAIN JASON RIVARD OF JPSO ABOUT THE INCIDENT LAST NIGHT. TWO SUSPECTS GOT OUT OF THE VEHICLE ON FOOT. BOTH WERE ON. ONE OF THE CAPTAINS PERCEIVED A THREAT FROM THE SUSPECTS. THEY’RE STARTING TO SURFACE. WELL, AT LEAST ONE TIME. WE BELIEVE THAT ONE OF THE TWO SUSPECTS WAS INJURED. WE DON’T KNOW IF IT WAS BY GUNFIRE OR DURING THE VEHICLE CRASH. RIVARD SAID THAT THE HOMICIDE SECTION OF JPSO IS INVESTIGATING THIS BECAUSE, HE SAYS EVERY OFFICER INVOLVED SHOOTING IS INVESTIGATED BY THAT DEPARTMENT OF THE SHERIFF’S OFFICE. THEY ALSO SAY THAT IF YOU HAVE ANY INFORMATION YOU’RE ASKED TO CALL CRIMESTOPPERS OF GREATER NEW ORLEANS. THAT NUMBER 504822. 1111. REPORTING LIVE IN JEFFERSON PARISH, EL
