I had the opportunity to spend some time with retired Fire Chief, Mike Dilley, and his son Craig Dilley as they went about their daily life to get their perspective on life inside the station. Both men are firefighters in Central Illinois.
Craig grew up visiting his dad in the station and is now following in his father’s footsteps as a career firefighter. He is currently serving as a Lieutenant with the Urbana Fire Department.
Mike Dilley is a 40 year veteran, and is still answering the call post-retirement as a volunteer for the departments in Homer and Sidney where he serves the rural communities as an Assistant Chief.
