The Tulsa Police Department has made an arrest in connection to gang-related vandalism.
On Jan. 25 around 6:30 p.m., officers were patrolling the area of 31st and Mingo near Cricket Wireless.
TPD says they saw two individuals painting graffiti on the side of the building with spray paint.
When police attempted to approach them, they ran away.
After a short chase on foot, police caught Leonel Sago.
In the midst of the chase, police say they saw Sago toss a can of spray paint to the other suspect, who got away.
TPD says they photographed the graffiti and noticed some of the paint was still wet.
Through an investigation, TPD discovered that Sago had explained the meaning of characters and letters he had written on the wall to an officer during a prior contact.
TPD believes the symbols are associated with a southern California-based criminal street gang.
Sago was booked into David L. Moss with a hold for the Muscogee Creek Nation.
Police believe the second suspect is well known in the 31st and Memorial area.
