The jury is now set in South Carolina's most high profile murder case in decades. On Wednesday, prosecutors for the state and defense attorneys for Alex Murdaugh made the final cuts to the panel. The pool that started at over 900 has now been whittled down to 18 total, with 12 serving on the jury and 6 alternates.
Murdaugh became emotional after the jury was excused and a discussion on how to handle graphic crime scene photos took place. It's the 1st time Murdaugh has cried publicly during any of the court proceedings in the case.
His son Buster and brother John Marvin were at the courthouse during the trial's 3rd day. Opening statements were also made. Murdaugh's lead attorney Dick Harpootlian accused the State Attorney General's Office of presenting theories instead of facts during their opening statement.
The trial continues Thursday morning and the 1st witness is expected to testify.
