The Oregon State softball team is coming off one of their best seasons in program history, making it to the Women's College World Series for the first time since 2006.
And although there were some major leaders from that World Series team that will not be back this season, Oregon State is returning one offensive weapon that is going to help bring them back there this season.
Senior infielder Frankie Hammoude was named to USA Softball's Top 50 Preseason Watchlist for the Collegiate Player of the Year.
The All-American was the Beavers’ leader in home runs last season with 15, hitting .384 on the season.
But this season, Hammoude wants to be an even bigger threat at the plate.
"This year, I'm just going to try and focus on just being a feared hitter and continuing to do what I do, not try and do too much because with this being my last year, I'll subconsciously want to do a lot,” Hammoude said. “Just trying to keep it simple and have fun. It's my last year; I have nothing to lose."
The Beavers will start their season on February 11 against New Mexico at the LSU Invitational in Baton Rouge.
