And then there were none.
The Camden Catholic High School wrestling team knocked off host No. 18 Seneca, 43-27, on Wednesday night, handing South Jersey’s last undefeated wrestling team a loss.
Camden Catholic - coming off losses to Jackson Memorial and Seton Hall Prep in a quad on Saturday - improved to 9-3, while Seneca fell to 11-1.
The victory also clinched the Olympic Conference National Division as Camden Catholic finished 6-0.
The Golden Eagles started off like they were going to continue their unbeaten beginning to the season with a forfeit win, 2-0 decision from Kevin Konopka (215) and an Anthony Fedell (285) pin staking them to a 15-0 lead.
But Lazerus Joyce began the Camden Catholic comeback at 106 pounds, defeating Jackson Bauer, 4-2, in sudden victory. The win sparked a run of seven consecutive victories that all but put the match away.
Kage Jones (132), Wayne Rold (138) and Michael Craft (144) notched pins to cap the run, which left Camden Catholic up 34-15 with four weights to go. The Irish forfeited two of the last four weights - giving up 18 points overall - but Jack Baylouny’s 6-3 decision at 157 sealed the match.
Only two of Seneca’s victories came on the mat.
Camden Catholic will face another Top 20 team Friday when it hosts No. 20 Kingsway.
