Fairfax County Fire and Rescue has identified the one person killed in a Dec. 26, house fire.
86-year-old Crista Mensh was identified on Wednesday as the fatality from a house fire that fire crews believe originated from a natural Christmas tree.
At around 8 p.m. on Dec. 26, Fairfax County fire crews responded to the residence in the 3500 block of Goodview Court in the Mantua area. Mensh and her husband reportedly lived there together.
Firefighters remained at the scene for several hours and returned to the scene the next day for further cleanup. Crews were limited to fighting the blaze from outside due to heavy fire conditions which compromised the structural integrity of the home.
Total damages of the home cost over $615,000, Fairfax County fire confirmed.
