SAN TAN VALLEY, AZ (3TV/CBS 5) -- A boy was rushed to the hospital after he was pulled out of a bathtub at a San Tan Valley home on Thursday afternoon. Around 12:45 p.m., a mother called 911, saying she found her 4-year-old son not moving inside the tub near Hunt Highway and Mountain Vista Boulevard. Pinal County Sheriff’s Office deputies arrived and began CPR on the boy, and firefighters took over shortly afterward. Investigators say he was blue and had a weak pulse.

It happened around 9:45 a.m. Friday on Atlanta Avenue, near 7th Avenue and Broadway Road. While details of what led up to the incident have not yet been made public, Phoenix police say the officer was shot in a “violent and unprovoked attack.” According to sources, it involves a female officer who was shot in the hip. Police say the officer’s injuries are not considered life-threatening.

PHOENIX (3TV/CBS 5) — The Phoenix Police Department confirmed on Thursday the three people found dead earlier this week in their home near South Mountain were victims of a murder-suicide, and the woman was pregnant. Phoenix Police Sgt. Brian Bower said 27-year-old Jacob De Zeeuw shot and killed 37-year-old Sarah Scott and 6-year-old Jacob De Zeeuw, Jr. near 16th Street and Dobbins Road. Scott was four months pregnant and her unborn child also died. De Zeeuw then took his own life. Bower said Jacob De Zeeuw, Jr. wasn’t related to Scott.

PHOENIX (3TV/CBS 5) - A woman was shot and killed in Phoenix’s “The Zone,” one of the nation’s largest homeless encampments, on Wednesday. In a separate case, two men were accused of beating and burning a man to death in a dumpster in the same encampment. Sources told Arizona’s Family that firefighters won’t even go into The Zone without a police escort. You might remember, back in November, that first responders found a dead baby boy on the street. “It’s heartbreaking if you want to know the truth,” said Brock Bevell, a former police officer and now a counselor with Victory Recovery. Bevell used to work in the narcotics division only to find himself in the grip of opioid addiction after getting injured on the job. Now he’s 13 years sober.

PHOENIX (3TV/CBS 5) -- Scary moments for a pilot who had to make an emergency landing at a north Scottsdale golf course Thursday afternoon. Initial reports of an aircraft down came in around 12:30 p.m. Scottsdale fire officials tell Arizona’s Family that a glider landed on its wheels in the fairway of the Estancia Club golf course, near Dynamite Boulevard and Alma School Parkway. PHOENIX (3TV/CBS 5) -- A man was arrested Tuesday after police said he stabbed another man to death behind a gas station dumpster in north Phoenix. It happened Thursday at the Shell station at Third Avenue and Bell Road. Police said officers found 26-year-old Alexander Morrissey stabbed multiple times in his face and head. There was also blood on the ground, a small pocket knife, a large tree limb and broken beer bottles near him. He died at the scene.

PHOENIX (3TV/CBS 5) -After another productive storm, Arizona continues to improve when it comes to the short-term drought. So how are all of these storms helping our lakes and drought situation? Every Thursday, the U.S. Drought Monitor updates our short-term conditions across the state and nation. Compared to a week ago, we’ve dropped another 4% roughly in the “abnormally dry” category and less than a percentage point in the moderate drought level. Over 75% of the state is now in a “none” drought category, with about 25% of the state, mostly western and the extreme north part of Arizona, classified to be in an “abnormally dry” state. Remember, Arizona has been in a long-term drought since the 1990′s.
