Fairmont woman sentenced in death of toddler

FAIRMONT, W.Va. — A Fairmont woman was sentenced to 5 to 35 years in prison Wednesday in connection with the death of a 4-year-old boy.

Ashlee Allen, 28, left the child in the care of Walter Richardson, 34, in 2021, who Allen knew abused the boy in the past.

Allen was initially charged with the death of a child by abuse but pleaded guilty last year to lesser charges.

Allen was sentenced Wednesday on three charges. She was ordered to serve the time consecutively which will result in a 5 to 35 prison term.

Richardson is scheduled to go on trial beginning  April 24 in connection with the boy’s death.
