KCCI'S LAURA TERRELL IS HERE NOW - WITH WHAT WE'VE LEARNED. 20-YEAR-OLD ZACHARY ALESKY DIED ON MONDAY WHILE WORKING ON THE NEW FLYING VIKING ROLLER COASTER. <MEDICS ARE HEADING OUT TO ADVENTURELAND PARK. 305 34TH AVENUE NORTHWEST. IT'S GOING TO BE IN THE EMPLOYEE LOT. A 20 YEAR OLD MALE THERE. HE IS NOT CONSCIOUS.> THE 911 CALL CAME IN AT 4:18 MONDAY AFTERNOON. MEDICS RUSHED TO ADVENTURELAND WHERE A CREW WAS WORKING ON THE NEW FLYING VIKING ROLLER COASTER. YOU CAN SEE THE CONSTRUCTION HERE - IN VIDEO OUR SKY 8 CAPTURED JUST TWO WEEKS AGO. WE'VE NOW LEARNED 20-YEAR-OLD ZACHARY ALESKY WAS CARRYING A STEEL BEAM MONDAY, WHEN HE SLIPPED ON ICE AND THE BEAM FELL ON HIS CHEST. <WE'RE TRYING TO GET A BREATHING STATUS ON THE SUBJECT. LOOKS LIKE MAYBE MY PARTNER IS TRYING TO GIVE CPR INSTRUCTIONS.> FAMILY MEMBERS SAY ALESKY WAS REVIVED AT THE HOSPITAL BUT LATER DIED DURING SURGERY. THEY SAY HE WORKED FOR SKYHIGH COASTERS - A FAMILY OWNED COMPANY BASED OUT OF ILLINOIS - AND HE WAS THE SON- IN-LAW OF THE OWNER. PALACE ENTERTAINMENT - THE COMPANY THAT OWNS ADVENTURELAND RELEASED THIS STATEMENT WEDNESDAY - "WE ARE SADDENED BY THIS TRAGIC ACCIDENT INVOLVING A CONTRACTOR PERFORMING WORK AT ADVENTURELAND RESORT AND WE EXTEND OUR DEEPEST SYMPATHIES TO HIS FAMILY, FRIENDS AND COWORKERS." Iowa OSHA is investigating after a contractor died in an accident at Adventureland amusement park in Altoona.A spokesperson for the family of 20-year-old Zachary Alesky said he was carrying a steel beam when he slipped on ice, and the beam came down and crushed his chest.Family members say Alesky was revived at the hospital, but later died during surgery.Alesky worked for SkyHigh Coasters, based in Illinois. The company is building the Flying Viking ride at the Altoona theme park. Iowa OSHA is investigating after a contractor died in an accident at Adventureland amusement park in Altoona.
