The Albany Police Department reports that around 12:20 p.m. Wednesday (Jan. 25), Alex Cameron Greig, 19, of Albany, reported he had physically assaulted his girlfriend.
Officers from the APD responded to the residence on Valley View Drive NW and, upon arrival, officers reported shots fired from inside the residence.
One APD officer was injured by flying glass and transported to a nearby hospital for treatment of minor injuries, the report said.
Greig surrendered to officers on scene and was taken into custody without further incident.
“We are very fortunate that no police officers were seriously injured and the suspect is in custody. We appreciate the professionalism of both Albany Police officers on scene and the Benton County Sheriff’s Office, who is taking the lead on the investigation,” APD Chief Marcia Harnden said.
The Benton County Sheriff’s Office is conducting the ongoing investigation of the incident and will release more information as it is available, APD added.
