CARTA Celebrates 50th Anniversary with Free Bus Rides

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) – CARTA is celebrating its Golden Anniversary this week, commemorating 50 years of service to Chattanooga public transit.

The week includes several events to show appreciation and gratitude for their employees, but Thursday, January 26th will be a customer appreciation day.

On that day, all CARTA bus services and routes will be completely free to the public.

Veronica Peebles, Director of Communications & Planning emphasized how much they want the public to feel part of the celebration. “We hope that our customers will also feel very appreciated and know that CARTA still cares for them,” Peebles said. “We want them to enjoy the services as well as free rides on CARTA today to show them our appreciation for their patronage for 50 years.”

CARTA hosted an Employee Appreciation Day earlier in the week where they gave employees a catered meal and some gifts to make rides more enjoyable including a full lunch cooler. Their Golden Anniversary week will conclude on the 29th with an awards ceremony and recognition dinner for employees.
