LYNCHBURG, Va. (WFXR) — The Lynchburg Police Department has arrested a 14-year-old after threats were made to the E. C. Glass High School principal on January 25.
Around 8:03 a.m. on Wednesday, the Lynchburg Police Department began investigating a call that was received by school staff. Staff says the caller told employees he was allegedly armed and intended to hurt another staff member.
As a precaution, the high school was placed on lockdown, and students and faculty took shelter in classrooms. Once on the scene, officers began to search the building.
During their investigation, it was learned that the call came from a home in the Lynchburg area. Officials went to the home and located the suspect who allegedly made the call.
LPD says a 14-year-old male was arrested and taken to the Lynchburg Regional Juvenile Detention Center.
Investigators determined the teen was not a current student at the school and he was charged with the following:
- Use of profane
- Threatening
- Indecent language over the telephone
Once he was in custody, LPD says the lockdown at E. C. Glass High School was lifted and students were dismissed. There were no reported injuries.
LPD says the incident is still under investigation.
