Cleveland man shot to death at gas station in city’s Central neighborhood, police say

CLEVELAND, Ohio – A man was killed Tuesday at a gas station in Cleveland’s Central neighborhood, police said.

Tysean James, 21, was shot in the chest about 9:10 p.m. at Quincy Gas on Community College Avenue and East 40th Street, according to police and the office of the Cuyahoga County medical examiner.

Officers with the Cuyahoga Metropolitan Housing Authority administered aid to James until the arrival of paramedics, who transported him to MetroHealth Medical Center, where he later died.

Police said James was in the parking lot at the gas station with a group of people, when gunshots were fired from a light-colored SUV.

A home in the 2400 block of East 40th Street also was struck by bullets, but no injuries were reported.

No arrests have been made in connection with the shooting. Police have not identified any suspects.
