Scott Rolen was the lone inductee into the Baseball Hall of Fame on Tuesday night, and many fans had a problem with the former Rookie of the Year and seven time All-Star being voted into Cooperstown.

When it comes to those arguments, whether it be for or against a player, Gio just can’t understand it. in fact, he’s tired of the entire scene of hearing debates about a player whose career is long over.

“The Hall of Fame induction stuff and who makes the Hall of Fame to me means absolutely nothing, and to see people freak out about who gets in or who doesn't get in is the biggest waste of time,” Gio said. “So I beg you, I beg you not to care about this.

“Think about what we're talking about. A guy played sports a professional sport at a high level. A bunch of baseball writers that sit around, the baseball writer dweebs out there, sit around and decide to vote on who gets to have a plaque in a museum in upstate New York. That's it. This is not baseball immortality. This isn't some being coming down from the heavens and knighting somebody because of their baseball career.”

Rolen was among the best in the league at his position for much of his 17-year career, and one of the best defenders at the hot corner in his era. Many of his offensive statistics were above the average Hall of Fame third baseman, and while he was still widely considered a borderline candidate, he got the call on Tuesday. Some responded with anger. Gio responded to that anger with genuine disbelief.

“Cooperstown is a nice place to take your kid if they're a baseball fan or you're a baseball fan, and you walk around and you enjoy it and you can go over to the plaque so you can see other stuff and it's a cool tribute to the game of baseball,” Gio said. “For people to be so offended that this guy got in, what does it matter to you? Ask yourself: why you are upset? Please, I'd love to know why are you upset

“That Scott Rolen is in the Hall, how does this affect your life? And oh by the way, you trashing this guy…you think about like he just got this tremendous honor, and you're just like killing him and all he's done was be an exemplary human being and player throughout his entire career.”
