There’s quite a lot of excitement surrounding the next instalment in the Assassin’s Creed series, Assassin’s Creed Mirage, and let’s be honest, Ubisoft could really do with a hit after a poor financial year.
In recent weeks, Ubisoft was forced to cancel three unannounced games in a bid to try and cut company losses. It’s believed that the company is hoping to save around $215 million in costs which could also see Ubisoft lessen its headcount as well. Maybe Mirage will finally be the major success they need. Set in ninth-century Baghdad, the game will star Valhalla’s Basim and is believed to utilise Unity’s parkour system. One AC title that didn’t go down well is Odyssey although fans are now saying that hate might be unjustified.

Reddit user KvasirTheOld took to the site to say, “Looking back, all the Odyssey hate was unjustified. I mean the game was by far the least buggy in the new RPG trilogy. The story was also extremely good, up there with Origins. The combat was the best, [and] quests were diverse and fun. [...] The side characters were also extremely good. Even though they had some goofy moments, they weren't bad.”

“The world is the best in the series, to me at least. One of the most beautiful open worlds,” the user continued. “I consider that hating on the game and calling it bad just because ‘there were no assassins’ is a big ass move.” Odyssey can at times feel slightly too big but I mostly agree on every other count - and I’m not alone.
FredJohnson100 added, “I personally enjoyed the story of Odyssey and was invested in Kassandra, so was excited when they featured her story in Valhalla,” while eightdotthree said, “Odyssey was my favourite of the new style AC games (Origins and newer). So much to explore and do. I loved it. I'm a sucker for Ancient Greek media though.” Despite this, I should imagine there’s a few people sticking by their dislike too.
