LOS ANGELES (KNX) - A 4.2 magnitude earthquake with an epicenter just south of Malibu struck at 2 a.m. Wednesday, shaking some Southern Californians out of bed.
The quake was followed by 3.5, 2.8. and 2.6 magnitude aftershocks.
As soon as the quake hit, Southern Californians began calling KNX News and delivering live reports of what they felt.
"It just started out small and then it just got a real big jerk," Betsy described to KNX News, saying it lasted about 12 seconds.
John from Brentwood related the sound of the quake to a "sonic boom."
"Something in a movie...like when something detonates and then you just see the shock roaring across the city, that's it exactly what it felt like," he said.
USGS geophysicist Robert Sanders told KCAL a few more aftershocks could be expected throughout the day.
There have been no reports or injuries or damages,
A tsunami warning was not issued,
