Three teen suspects were arrested in connection with a shooting that occurred in Carson City Tuesday night that sent a 16-year-old to the hospital with critical injuries.

The Carson City Sheriff’s Office (CCSO) received 911 calls of a shooting actively taking place at the 3300 block of East Carmine Street in East Carson City around 7 p.m. on Jan. 24. Minutes later, CCSO received reports of a gunshot victim in a vehicle located near the intersection of Sherman Lane and Concord Drive, approximately one-half mile away. At 7:13 p.m., they received reports of another gunshot victim at the 3000 block of Carmine Street.

Paramedics arrived at the Sherman Lane and Concord scene and treated a victim identified as a 16-year-old Lyon County teen with a gunshot wound to the face. The teen was transported to Renown Medical Center by Care Flight in critical condition.

Additional medical units treated a second 16-year-old from Carson City with gunshot wounds to both legs at the 3000 block of Carmine Street. The victim was transported to Renown Medical Center by ground ambulance and later discharged from the hospital.

Following the medical release of the Carson City teen, authorities say he was arrested at 12:42 a.m., for battery with a deadly weapon causing substantial bodily harm, discharging a firearm into an occupied vehicle, two counts of assault with a deadly weapon and discharging a firearm within the city limits. He was transported to the Carson City Juvenile Detention Center.

At the scene of the shooting incident at the 3300 block of East Carmine Street, detectives were able to identify two additional suspects that had fled the area on foot prior to law enforcement arrival. The suspects were identified as a 17-year-old Carson City girl and a 15-year-old Carson City boy.

Detectives were also able to determine approximately 17 shots had been fired from handguns and several vehicles were damaged by an escaping vehicle that was recovered at Sherman Lane and Concord Drive. They recovered multiple baggies containing marijuana and mushrooms inside the vehicle that had fled the area.

Sheriff’s Office Tactical Teams made contact with the remaining two suspects early Wednesday morning. They were both taken into custody without incident.

Authorities say that throughout the operation, the Carson City School District remained in close contact with CCSO to ensure the ongoing safety of the schools was a top priority. Extra CCSO deputies and Juvenile Probation Officers have been assigned to the schools for security.

Charges related to the final two taken into custody are still pending.
