Scott Rolen has been elected to the Hall of Fame, and he’s the only member in the class of 2023.
Rolen is the sole candidate who surpassed the minimum 75% of votes needed for induction (76.3%). The other 27 players on the ballot will not be inducted this year.

And 12 players never will be. Those who received less than 5% of votes will drop off of future ballots: Bronson Arroyo, RA Dickey, John Lackey, Mike Napoli, Huston Street, Matt Cain, Jacoby Ellsbury, Andre Ethier, JJ Hardy, Jhonny Peralta, Jered Weaver and Jayson Werth.
This was Ellsbury’s first year on the ballot and he received zero votes.
Before the 2014 season, the New York Yankees gave Ellsbury a seven-year, $153-million deal, the biggest free agent contract ever signed by a center fielder. But after joining the Yankees, Ellsbury played just 520 games over five seasons, hitting .264 with 39 home runs, 198 RBI and a .716 OPS. The Yankees signed him after his stint with the Boston Red Sox, with whom he finished third in the AL Rookie of the Year race in 2008, second in the MVP race in 2011 and 15th in the same race in 2013.
