Decreasing clouds in DFW today but staying windy and cold

The forecast panned out across north Texas! We saw some welcome rain and some of you saw some snow as promised. Enough snow to close some schools up towards the Red River Valley.

Heavy snow fell across parts of Oklahoma. 4" to 6" just east of Durant ,Oklahoma. 3"-4" in OKC, 4" to 7" in southwestern Oklahoma, 8" to 12" inches across parts of the high plains of west Texas and only a trace officially at DFW airport. It had been 35 days since we've had more than a trace of rain measured. It's the third consecutive 35+ day streak with no measurable rain in the past 8 months. DFW Airport did officially measure 1.02 inches of rain yesterday. There were also a half a dozen tornado reports across the upper Texas coast, including a destructive tornado in Pasadena Texas, just SE of Houston.

Now it's back to reality. The sun comes back out today, but it will be a blustery day with high temperatures in the mid to upper 40s. North wind will gust to 25 mph. Tonight, protect your plants, pets, and pipes. Temperatures will range between 25° and 30° by daybreak, with lighter wind.

It stays cool tomorrow, but the sun will be shining. Daytime highs will top out in the low 50s. A slow warm up for Friday and Saturday with afternoon highs near 60° on Friday, increasing clouds, windy and cool on Saturday, Highs in the low 60s. There's a slight chance of showers late Saturday evening as well.

Sunday will start off cloudy, turning windy and colder before sunrise. Temperatures just after midnight will be in the mid 50s, but will fall into the 40s with a north wind gusting to 30 mph during the day. Bundle up! It'll be a blustery day.

Next week, model data is all over the place. We'll definitely stay on the chilly side, with high temperatures most likely hovering in the 40s. There's also a chance of precipitation Tuesday and Wednesday. This is a changeable forecast.
