Tornado damage confirmed in Bayou Cane
OVER TO YOU GUYS. ALL RIGHT, DANA, THANK YOU. AT 632, THE GOOD NEWS IS THAT THAT LINE OF STRONG STORMS CONTINUES TO PUSH EAST OUT OF THE VIEWING AREA. BUT MANY NEIGHBORS ARE WAKING UP RIGHT NOW, STEPPING OUTSIDE, CHECKING THEIR PROPERTIES FOR ANY DAMAGE. SOME HAVING TO CLEAN UP. YEAH, THANKFULLY, AS YOU MENTIONED, NO WIDESPREAD DAMAGE, NO REPORTS OF ANY INJURIES. A SIGH OF RELIEF FOR MANY, BUT THE MEDIA’S ELI BRAND DID FIND ONE HOME WHERE RESIDENTS ARE WAKING UP TO A LITTLE BIT OF DAMAGE WITH A TARP OVER THAT ROOF. AND ELI, WHAT ELSE ARE YOU SEEING THIS MORNING? YEAH, WE’RE HERE ON BAYOU BEAN DRIVE HERE IN BAYOU BLUE AND THE FOOD FAIR. SO LET ME STEP OUT AND SHOW YOU WHAT WE’RE SEEING RIGHT NOW. YOU CAN SEE THIS HOUSE RIGHT NOW. A LOT OF DEBRIS HERE LAYING ACROSS THE YARD. YOU CAN SEE THE BLUE TARP HAD TO BE PUT ON THE ROOF RIGHT HERE. AND IF YOU LOOK RIGHT HERE WHERE THE WINDOW, IT LOOKS LIKE USED TO BE, YOU CAN SEE CLEAN THROUGH THIS HOUSE. IF YOU COME OVER HERE TO THE LEFT, YOU CAN SEE ALL THE WAY THROUGH. OBVIOUSLY, YOU CAN’T SEE IT ON THE CAMERA QUITE YET. BUT I MEAN, IT LOOKS LIKE THERE WAS A GOOD BIT OF DAMAGE HERE. I BELIEVE I SPOKE TO THE MOTHER OF THE PERSON THAT OWNS THIS HOUSE. SHE SAYS THEY’VE BEEN UP ALL NIGHT WORKING ON TRYING TO GET THE PIECES BACK TOGETHER AND THEY’RE FINALLY GETTING SOME REST BEFORE THEY COME BACK HERE TO WORK ON THIS AGAIN LATER TODAY, A LIVE PARISH SHERIFF’S DEPUTY JUST CAME OVER AND SPOKE WITH US AS WELL. HE SAYS JUST ON THIS OTHER STREET, THERE’S A WINNEBAGO THAT WAS ALSO TIPPED OVER. SO IT LOOKS LIKE HERE ON BAYOU BEEN DRIVE HERE IN BUYING BLUE WAS WHERE A LOT OF THIS DAMAGE WAS. WE DID SEE A POST FROM THE BLUES PARISH SHERIFF’S OFFICE ON FACEBOOK THAT CAME ACROSS LATE LAST NIGHT. THEY SAID THAT THEY HAD GOTTEN REPORTS OF DAMAGE BOTH IN RACELAND AND HERE IN BAYOU BLUE. AS YOU CAN SEE HERE IN FRONT OF US. WE ALSO WENT TO BLUE CANE OVER IN TERREBONNE PARISH EARLIER THIS MORNING WHERE WE DID SEE A LITTLE BIT OF DAMAGE, SOME DOWNED TREE BRANCHES. WE SAW DAMAGE TO A CARPORT THERE, BUT NOT TOO MUCH IN THE WAY OF HEAVY, HEAVY DAMAGE. THIS IS DEFINITELY THE WORST THAT WE’VE SEEN HERE THIS MORNING. OVER IN LAFOURCHE PARISH. BUT AS WE GET THROUGH THE MORNING, WE’RE GOING TO WORK TO GO AND SEE SOME MORE OF THIS DAMAGE HERE. WE’RE GOING TO GO AND SEE THAT WINNEBAGO TIPPED OVER ACROSS THE STREET. WE’LL BRING THAT TO YOU HERE IN ABOUT 20 MINUTES. BUT FOR NOW, REPORTING LIVE HERE
