The Knoxville Boys Basketball Squad took care of business Tuesday night dispatching Centerville 73-50 while the girls were locked down all night in a 43-40 loss heard live on 95.3 KNIA. The boys had to win to set up a virtual winner-take all showdown for the South Central Conference title Friday night in Eddyville. While the Panthers started off slowly at first…they caught fire in the second quarter and pulled away with a 14-0 run in the second quarter, and gradually pulled away, getting the lead as high as 25. Post player Jack Bertrand told KNIA/KRLS Sports early adversity gave them a chance to get back on the saddle.

Bertrand: “Wern’t really falling for us and we just worked as a team and got high percentage shots and did what we needed to do.”

The Panthers were led by Carson Uitermarkt with 18 points on six three point shots, Jay Kellar had 13 points, Noah Keefer poured in 12, and Landen Norris completed four Panthers in double figures with ten. The girls had a tough time all game solving Centerville’s one/three/one defense and continually missed outside shots and were unable to complete several shots at the rim. The girls are 11-5 and 8-4 in the South Central Conference while the boys are 11-3 and will have a show down from1st place in the conference with EBF on Friday.
