National Grid Foundation adds more to blizzard support

Renovations are underway at the former Millennium Hotel on Walden Avenue in Cheektowaga. Business First reports local investor Jayesh Patel is spending $1.6 million to upgrade the bathrooms and will then re-do the lobby and bar areas with the renovations finished by midyear. Patel paid $6.7 million for the hotel at an auction last October.

The National Grid Foundation is contributing another $500,000 in support of Western New Yorkers still recovering from the Christmas weekend blizzard.  The Foundation so far providing $1 million to FeedMore WNY, Back to Basics Ministries, United Way of Buffalo and Erie County and the Western New York Chapter of the American Red Cross.

Triple A is offering a $2,500 signing bonus for licensed insurance professionals.  There is a hiring event  tomorrow from 4-6pm at AAA headquarters, located in Amherst at 100 International Drive.

Some improvement for UB, in an evaluation by U.S. News & World Report of online academic programs offered by U.S. schools.  The School of Nursing’s RN to BS program rose from #39 last year to #25 this year.
